This 2nd Model German Naval Dagger is in EXC++ condition and complete with hangers. Kriegsmarine model 1938. The maker mark is by F.W. Höller Solingen.

Grip: The Höller pommels are slightly smaller than most of the other types, and have a nice angle to the half-open eagle wings. This nicely offsets the wreath and mobile, which is executed in deep relief. The crossguard has the usual fouled anchors in the center blocks, with a decoration of acanthus leaves on the sides of the quillon arms. The button ends are nicely hand enhanced, with nipples that jut out quite far. The grip is a white color close to ivory look. The grip is in perfect condition and, as we usually see on Höller pieces, it is tightly wrapped with springy copper wire.

Blade: The blade is in nice condition. The reverse ricasso is etched with the early form of the Höller trademark, being slightly more detailed that later versions. It features a set of double ovals which contain the firm's name and location, “F.W. Höller Solingen”. Inside is the famous thermometer logo, with too many digits to ever count... or 17 on each side. The leather buffer is still in place. The brown felt buffer pad continues to remain intact.

Scabbard: The scabbard is the hammering type. This scabbard has good detail to the palmettes around the bands, and to the lower lightning bolts, ermine feet, and acanthus leaves. The carrying bands show a little minor wear to the surfaces but the detail to the overlapping oak leaves and acorns is still there. The eyelets have triple serrations, also showing some minor wear. The throat is retained by two headless brass side-screws.
